Unfamiliar Texts: Life Style Creed

  1. What does the word “creed” mean? Where else do we see this word used?

Creed: a system of religious belief; a faith.

  1. Look up any words you don’t know in this poem and then write an original sentence
using the word to show that you understand its meaning.

Oleocanthal is a natural compound found in extra-virgin olive oil

  1. Look up the Catholic Nicene Creed. What is it? Look up the words.
Compare them to this poem. How are they similar? How are they different?

They’re basically the same thing
  1. Why does the author use cut up bits of text? What effect does it have?

She is using someone else’s words as her own

  1. Why does the author use two different font styles? Compare the way they look.
Why did the author do this? What do each of the font styles represent?

Because it looks like she got the words from two different texts

  1. Why do you think the author has juxtaposed the Nicene Creed with words such as
“brain boosters”, “antioxidants”, and “good cholesterol”?
What meaning is she trying to convey? Is this effective? What is the effect on the reader?

  1. What is the overall purpose of the poem?

  1. What is the overall tone of the poem?

  1. Read the last two lines of the poem. What ideas do these lines suggest?

  1. Do you like this poem? Why or why not?

  1. Add images to your post which go along with or represent this poem.

Exchange Reactions

Exchange Reactions

An exchange reaction occurs between compounds that, when written as a molecular equation, appear to involve the exchange of parts between the two reactants. An exchange reaction will occur when ions in solution form insoluble products.

Solubility Rules
  1. All nitrates are
  2. All sodium and potassium compounds are soluble.
  3. All chlorides are soluble except silver chloride and lead chloride.
  4. All sulfates are soluble except barium sulfate, lead sulfate, calcium sulfate.
  5. All carbonates are insoluble except sodium and potassium carbonates.
  6. All hydroxides are insoluble except sodium and potassium hydroxides.

Decomposition reactions

What is a Decomposition reaction?

Image result for Decombination reactionsA decomposition reaction is a type of chemical reaction in which a single compound breaks down into two or more elements or new compounds. These reactions often involve an energy source such as heat, light, or electricity that breaks apart the bonds of compounds.

CuCO3(S) + heat = CuO(s) + CO2

Artist Models

The three Artist Models I chose are Vladimir Manyuhin, Simon Stålenhag, and John Walters.

The reason why I chose these artists is because with Vladimir Manyuhin he uses pictures of real life places and then adds digital decay and overgrowth to depict what well-known places on earth would look like after an apocalypse.

Simon Stålenhag is an artist and designer specializing in futuristic artwork focused on stereotypical Swedish countryside environments. He uses a Wacom tablet and computer to illustrate his work, which is designed to resemble oil painting.

John Walters did something similar to Vladimir Manyuhin by taking real life places and turned them into post apocalyptic areas. We can see some of his work in the game the last of us.
